The celebration of 40 years of transboundary governance of the Geneva Aquifer (Nappe du Genevois) took place on 29 November 2018. The Geneva Water Hub contributed to the organisation of this event led by the Geneva and French authorities in order to highlight this pioneering model of concerted management of a transboundary aquifer located between the Canton of Geneva in Switzerland and municipalities attached to the French Department of Haute-Savoie. In particular, national representatives of the Senegal-Mauritanian aquifer basin and the Guarani aquifer system contributed to a reflection on the applicability of this model to large aquifer systems.
